Power of Attorney status if the primary member passes away

If the primary member dies and a Power of Attorney has been assigned, what happens to the account?

Upon the primary member's death, the Power of Attorney (POA) is no longer in effect. If the member has a joint owner on the account, the joint will have the right of survivorship. If there is not a joint listed on the account, any Payable on Death Beneficiaries will receive the money in the account as determined by the member before their death. If there is not a joint or beneficiary on file, then the money will go to the estate of the primary member.
