Delta Community Credit Union gives grants to Decatur charities

    Cobb-based Delta Community Credit Union announced that two Decatur-based charities serving metro Atlanta residents recently received grants from the Delta Community Philanthropic Fund.

    In a ceremony at Delta Community’s Decatur Branch, the credit union’s CEO Hank Halter and community development representative Reina Short presented the awards to The Community School and The Global Village Project.

    The Global Village Project received a $3,000 grant to support its science, technology, engineering, arts and math program. STEAM integrates engineering, math and chemistry with studies of the arts for young teenage girls who migrated from 12 different countries including Ethiopia, Somalia, Bhutan, Nepal and Syria.

    A $2,000 grant was awarded to The Community School, which provides education and independence for adolescents and young adults with autism. The Delta Community grant is earmarked for the school’s Outdoor Program.
