    Delta Community Credit Union Takes Part in National Financial Literacy Month

    Georgia’s Largest Credit Union Holds Activities in April to Educate and Serve Metro Atlanta Consumers

    ATLANTA (April 7, 2014) – According to a recent NFCC Financial Literacy Survey, more than 65 percent of consumers do not have a budget, with many uneducated about how to manage their personal finances. With a focus on enhancing the financial education of its members, as well as young people and families in metro Atlanta, Delta Community Credit Union (, announces its participation in April’s National Financial Literacy Month.

    “At Delta Community, we strive to support our members with the financial tools and knowledge they need to be financially savvy,” explains Eve Nimkar, vice president of marketing at Delta Community Credit Union. “Throughout the year, we provide members with ongoing opportunities to learn and grow financially, including free seminars and events. To celebrate National Financial Literacy Month, we’re hosting several events for our current members and metro Atlanta residents of all ages to encourage the practice of following sound financial management principles.”

    Free Car Buying Seminars

    Delta Community Credit Union and Car Solutions are offering How to Buy a Car without Being Taken for a Ride, a free seminar taking place on Tuesday, April 15 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Delta Community’s Peachtree City (Wisdom Road) Branch and Thursday, April 17 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at its Vinings (Cumberland Boulevard) Branch. This free seminar gives attendees the information and confidence necessary to navigate the car-buying process.

    Catch the $ave WaveTM

    During the week of April 21-26, Delta Community will also take part in National Credit Union Youth Week. This year’s theme, Catch the $ave WaveTM, will educate children on how they can benefit from saving and managing money. Delta Community branches will give away fun prizes and information about its Sandy Savers program, ideal for children 12 and under.

    Shred Days

    In late April and early May, Delta Community will host free Shred Day events around metro Atlanta. Shredding and securely disposing of personal documents helps protect consumers from identity theft. The dates and locations of the Shred Day Events are:

    • April 28: Virginia Avenue Branch - 1025 Virginia Avenue, Atlanta
    • April 29: Stockbridge (Mt. Zion) Branch - 5006 Mt. Zion Parkway, Stockbridge
    • May 3: Peachtree City (Wisdom Road) Branch - 315 Highway 74, North, Peachtree City
    • May 6: Newnan Branch - 1825 Highway 34 East
    • May 7: Marietta (Dallas Highway) Branch - 2627 Dallas Highway, SW
    • May 8: Vinings (Cumberland Boulevard) Branch - 3250 Riverwood Parkway, Atlanta
    • May 9: Duluth Branch - 1980 Satellite Blvd., NW, Duluth
