Final 2016 HBCU Scholarship Award Presented
KISS 104’s Veronica Waters, HBCU Scholarship recipient Joreal Eady and her sister, Kerris, and Hank Halter.
Delta Community and Atlanta radio station KISS 104's scholarships for students attending Georgia’s Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCUs) wrapped up for 2016, with a check for $2,000 presented to Joreal Eady of Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Joreal is currently a senior at Discovery High School. She’s been accepted to both Albany State University and Clark Atlanta University and will make her final decision soon. While attending school, Joreal makes time for several extracurricular activities, such as Student Council, Student Ambassadors, Secretary of State Student Ambassadors, PTSA, Maxwell Student Ambassadors and HOSA. She also volunteers once a month at the Lawrenceville Co-Op Ministry and SaltLight Center. Joreal has been a member of Delta Community since 2011, and we are excited to present her with the final HBCU Scholarship of the year.
Throughout 2016, we awarded a total of $8,000 in scholarships to students attending HBCUs in the state of Georgia. Learn more about the Delta Community - KISS 104 HBCU Scholarship Program.

Charitable Giving and Volunteering
HR Charitable Giving
Our HR and Corporate Training Team with the donations that they collected for The Bloom Closet.
Charitable giving and employee volunteering is a very important aspect of Delta Community’s culture. We are committed to making a difference in the communities we serve, especially around the holiday season, which is why we have been participating in the following:
  • Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Patient Party – Employee volunteers provided holiday cheer to young patients by creating wrapping paper Christmas trees, decorating clear ornaments, playing holiday bingo and decorating cookies.
  • Bloom Donations - Members of our Corporate Training and HR departments graciously donated toys and clothes to The Bloom Closet, a non-profit organization that provides free clothing, toys and other items to more than 1,200 foster children across 60 Georgia counties.
  • Delta Air Lines' North Pole Flight - The North Pole charter flight, an annual Delta Air Lines event, provides Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) Cancer Center patients with opportunities to board a Delta plane and then deplane in an area of the airport transformed to look like the North Pole. Employee volunteers dressed like elves and interacted with 50 CHOA patients and made crafts and other holiday treats.
  • Angel Tree - Employees from the Duluth, Johns Creek and Snellville Branches donated gifts to 25 children in the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program. The Angel Tree program spreads holiday cheer to needy children through charitable donations of toys, clothing and other necessities.
  • Empty Stocking Fund Donation – Our Accounting department donated to the Empty Stocking Fund, a non-profit organization that has been providing holiday cheer to tens of thousands of Atlanta's impoverished children for more than 80 years. The donation will directly help seven local children have a more joyful holiday season.
  • Denim in December for Children’s Miracle Network – During the month of December, employees were able to make a small monetary donation to Children’s Miracle Network and in exchange they were able to wear jeans all month long.
If you’re looking for a way to give back, stop by any of our branches and purchase candy bars, water bottles, piggy banks and more. Purchases benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which includes Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, with pediatric care, education, research and equipment.
