Delta Community’s VP of Community Development Tapped to Lead Board of Directors
For the Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta
Jai Rogers Begins Tenure as Board President of Nation’s Top Volunteer Network*
ATLANTA, Jan. 6, 2015 – Delta Community Credit Union (www.DeltaCommunityCU.com) is pleased to announce that Jai Rogers, vice president of business and community development, will serve in 2015 as president of the Board of Directors for the Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta.
The Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) is a network of companies that share ideas and provide resources to help each other meet community needs through employee volunteer programs and philanthropic giving. Founded in 1992, the non-profit CVC of Atlanta includes Fortune 600 companies, as well as neighborhood businesses, and helps companies make the most of their philanthropic efforts.
“Companies are increasingly embracing volunteerism as a business strategy,” said Cheryl Kortemeier, CVC executive director. “They realize its impact on their bottom line, their employee retention and satisfaction, and on the communities they serve. When you have healthy families, good neighborhoods and good schools, that’s good for business.”
Jai Rogers, vice president of business and community development at Delta Community, begins her presidency of the CVC of Atlanta board with a deep understanding of the importance of corporate giving. “Many companies just beginning employee volunteer programs don’t always have a plan in place,” said Rogers. “The CVC of Atlanta gives them a starting point to find the best ways to support the communities and charities they serve.”
Rogers has been a CVC of Atlanta member since 2001, originally serving as representative for the United Way of Greater Atlanta and later Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. She continued her CVC service after joining Delta Community in 2012, when the Credit Union became a business member of the CVC.
*In 2014, the CVC of Atlanta was honored nationally as the Corporate Volunteer Council of the Year by Points of Light. Founded in 1990 by President George H. W. Bush, Points of Light is the largest organization in the world dedicated to encouraging volunteerism.
