Delta Community Credit Union Remains Committed to Metro Atlanta Community

Georgia’s Largest Credit Union Donates More Than $400,000 to Community Efforts for 2012

ATLANTA (Jan. 31, 2013) – Remaining committed to supporting the communities it serves, Delta Community Credit Union, Georgia’s largest credit union, continued its community involvement efforts in 2012. Raising funds for Children’s Miracle Network®, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta®, American Cancer Society, Relay for Life®, area high schools and other youth-centered non-profits, Delta Community contributed more than $400,000 in financial donations for these organizations. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, Delta Community stays deeply rooted in the communities it serves by being an active participant and source of support through programs that focus on the specific needs of its members.

The company has a long-standing relationship with Children’s Miracle Network and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta through the nationwide program, Credit Unions for Kids. “This year, Delta Community raised more than $304,000 through Atlanta fundraising initiatives,” notes Hank Halter, interim president and CEO of Delta Community. “By helping the lives of Georgia families, we are able to support our philosophy of people helping people and continue benefiting charities that enhance children’s lives, both physically and financially.”

Through other fundraising efforts in 2012, Delta Community donated almost $43,000 to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Additionally, the credit union’s Serve & Deserve program, now in its fourth year, is a unique and innovative fundraising program that gives high school student clubs and sports teams the opportunity to raise money for charitable organizations while in turn receiving matching in-kind donations for their schools. Last year, participating schools presented checks in excess of $117,000 to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Relay for Life, the Rally Foundation and the March of Dimes.

About Delta Community Credit Union

Delta Community Credit Union is one of the largest financial institutions in Georgia. It was founded in 1940 and today serves the entire metro Atlanta area, including residents of the 11 surrounding counties and employees of top businesses, such as Delta Air Lines, Chick-fil-A, UPS and RaceTrac. Delta Community is a state-chartered credit union organized under the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, and its deposit accounts are federally insured through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. It chooses to operate as a not-for- profit credit union so it can give back earnings to its members and their local communities. Unlike a for-profit bank, Delta Community is owned by its members, not individual or institutional investors. Customers become member-owners when they open and maintain an account.
