  • Interest Checking: If you carry a higher balance, you’ll get all the benefits of our Free Checking Account, plus the ability to earn interest. There is no monthly maintenance fee when you meet the balance criteria.
  • SpendSafe™ Checking: Available for members as young as 13, this is a great option whether you’re just starting out in life or typically carry a lower balance. SpendSafe Checking comes with many of our standard checking benefits, but has the added protection of no overdraft fees. Plus, there’s no monthly maintenance fee for members under the age of 23.

Philanthropic Fund Grants Awarded in February

Delta Community Philanthropic Fund Recipients

We recently presented three grants from our 2024 Philanthropic Fund, totaling $25,000 to the following organizations:

Automotive Training Center (pictured, left) awarded $10,000 for its program that trains at-risk teens and young adults for employment in the automotive repair industry. This program helps students from under-resourced communities gauge their interest in the industry and prepare them for entry-level auto technician jobs, while another program focuses on young adults, who are unemployed or underemployed or have been involved with the criminal justice system, and prepares them for mid-level employment.

RE: Imagine ATL (center) trains, equips and inspires the next generation to build careers in the creative and digital media industries. Its $7,500 grant will be used for its workforce program, EMERGE Apprenticeship, which prepares its 18- to 24-year-old participants for emerging careers in the film and creative media industry.

STRIVE Atlanta (right) is a job training and career development services nonprofit agency, focused on helping people with obstacles to employment. They received a $7,500 award to support their Career Path and Future Leaders programs. The programs offer students a variety of services including financial coaching, allowing them to launch into careers in high-demand industries, logistics and office administration.

The Delta Community Philanthropic Fund will invest a total of $150,000 throughout 2024 to 20 metro Atlanta non-profit organizations that support the physical and financial needs of people who live within the communities we serve.al needs of people who live within the communities we serve.

Max Out Your IRA Before April 15

Maxing out your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) is an important step towards building savings for the future. With tax season upon us, now is the perfect time to consider making additional contributions to your IRA.

Maxing out an IRA offers great tax benefits. The amount that you contribute may be deductible from your taxable income, meaning your savings can grow, tax-deferred, until you withdraw from the account in retirement. Another advantage of maximizing your contribution is the benefit of compounding growth. The combination of a maximum contribution and dividends can generate growth of your savings, allowing the account to reach its full earning potential. This is an easy way to get higher returns on your IRA and plan wisely for retirement.

The deadline to contribute to an IRA for the 2023 tax year is April 15, 2024, so there is still time to make a tax-deferred contribution. The maximum amount you may contribute for 2023 is $6,500 for individuals under age 50, and $7,500 for those 50 and over.
