Courtesy Pay FAQs

How does Courtesy Pay work?

Coverage on your Checking Account, up to a limit of $500 aggregate [including the amount of the overdrawn item(s) and the Courtesy Pay fee(s)], will be honored by Delta Community. A Courtesy Pay fee will be assessed for each item paid by Courtesy Pay. You will have up to 30 days to bring the Checking Account balance positive.

What items are covered and not covered using Courtesy Pay?

A fee is accessed each time courtesy pay is utilized. Overdrafts will be paid utilizing your Courtesy Pay funds up to the $500 aggregate limit mentioned for the following types of transactions:

  • Checks
  • ACH (Automatic Clearing House) & EFT (Electronic Funds Transfers) Ex: Checks written to Wal-Mart which are converted into EFT's

These items will be paid using Courtesy Pay after all other overdraft protection is depleted.

Transactions that will not access Courtesy Pay:

  • ATM Transactions
  • Debit Card POS (Point of Sale) Transactions
  • Cash Transactions
  • Debit Card Signature Based Transactions
  • Savings Account Transactions
  • Any Shared Branch Transactions

How will Courtesy Pay work if I already have overdraft protection?

If you have established other Delta Community overdraft protection methods, such as a line of credit or automatic transfer from your other accounts, we will pay any overdraft by those methods first (unless the specified account reaches the maximum withdrawal limit or Reg D) before activating Courtesy Pay and imposing a Courtesy Pay fee for each item paid.

What happens if I exceed my Courtesy Pay limit?

If you exceed the Courtesy Pay $500 aggregate limit per checking account, your items will not be paid and will be returned. The normal NSF fee(s) will be assessed.

How do I repay the overdraft from a check cleared using Courtesy Pay?

Repayment of the overdraft amount is expected within 30 days. If you have additional overdraft items during this time, the account still must be brought to a positive balance on or before the 30th day from the date of the initial overdraft item. Deposits received by Delta Community during the thirty days will be applied first to your overdrawn checking balance.

What happens if I can't bring my account to a positive balance after Courtesy Pay paid my transactions?

If you can't bring your account to a positive balance within the 30 day repayment period, your Courtesy Pay privileges will be revoked and collection procedures may be initiated.

How do I get Courtesy Pay and do I have to apply for this service?

Courtesy Pay will automatically be added to your Checking Account, so there's no need to apply. We require no applications or additional signatures. Courtesy Pay is available to all Delta Community members who meet the following criteria:

  • Have an active Checking Account open for more than 60 days with a positive balance
  • Do not have a Delta Community loan/Visa delinquent more than 30 days
  • No Restricted/Basic Checking Accounts*

*Restricted/Basic Account Holders have been notified by mail and have accepted the basic terms and conditions based on their account type.

To maintain the service:

  • Make deposits sufficient to cover transactions
  • Bring the account to a positive balance at least once every 30 days or less
  • Delta Community has the right to cancel Courtesy Pay anytime and without notice

I would like to opt-out of (cancel) Courtesy Pay, how can I do this?

You can decide to opt-out of this service and not participate by sending a secure message from Online Banking within the Secure Email under Additional Services. If at a later time you decide to opt back into Delta Community's Courtesy Pay program, please contact us.
