Shared Branch IDCheck

Important Information About Shared Branch Visits

New Security Feature: IDCheck

As of May 1, 2025, CO-OP implemented a new security enhancement to its Shared Branch network: IDCheck. This new tool helps credit unions verify member identities more effectively, helping to prevent identity theft and reduce fraud.

Save Time: Verify Before Your Branch Visit

Complete your ID verification in advance and spend less time at the branch. Visit verify.coop.org before your visit—it only takes a few minutes.

Please note: Your one-time passcode is only valid for 20 minutes after it’s generated, so wait until you're near the branch before starting the verification process.

Verify at a Branch

Before you start: Have your smartphone, government-issued photo ID and member number ready.

To verify your identity at a Shared Branch, follow these simple steps:

  • Scan the QR code in the branch or visit verify.coop.org.
  • Select your credit union’s name from the drop-down list.
  • Enter your member number and the last four digits of your Social Security Number.
  • Upload a photo of your ID.
  • Take a quick selfie.
  • Show your one-time passcode to the teller. (Passcode is valid for 20 minutes.)

Tip: Choose to save your information for even quicker check-ins next time!

What You'll Need:

  • A smartphone
  • Your member number
  • A valid government-issued photo ID

What happens if I do not have a smartphone?

A smart device (phone or tablet) is required for this service. If you do not have a smart device, please contact your Shared Branch credit union to verify that they can assist you.

Will I need to complete this process every time?

If you choose to save your information, IDCheck will remember you for future visits to the same credit union—as long as you use the same mobile device and your ID remains valid. IDCheck correlates verification to the device.

If your ID expired or if you got a new smart device, simply go through the verification process again.

What information is stored, and how is it used?

Please refer to Socure’s privacy policy: https://www.socure.com/privacy

Once saved, can I edit the information saved?

Does IDCheck support foreign passports?
