How to remove a joint owner

How do I remove a joint owner from my personal account?

There are two ways to remove a joint owner from your account.

  • If the joint is willing to sign to be removed, then they will need to complete the Remove Joint Owner form.
  • If the joint is unable to sign, then you will need to close and reopen the account from which you are trying to remove the joint owner. A form to close the account, as well as a new signature card are required. To request these forms, you can visit a branch office, call us at 1-800-544-3328 or send a request within Online Banking from the Contact Member Care link in the top right-hand corner.
  • In order to remove a joint owner, the account balance must have a positive balance.
