Cobb-based Delta Community Credit Union awarded two local students $5,000 each to help them continue their education at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Isaiah Cox from Stone Mountain and Sydney Redmond from Conyers were named recipients of the credit union’s 2023 HBCU Scholarship Award. Held in partnership with radio station V-103, the HBCU Scholarship Program awards students attending or planning to attend HBCUs.

Cox will be a third-year pharmacy major at Florida A&M University and plans to become a pharmacist. He is a licensed pharmacy technician in Georgia.

Redmond will be a freshman at the North Carolina A&T Honors College, where she will major in health sciences. She plans to become a dentist and focus on providing dental services to underserved communities.

The Delta Community-V103 HBCU Scholarship will award a total of $20,000 to four scholarship winners in 2023. More than 430 entries were received during this application period. Another HBCU scholarship period opens in August and two more students will be awarded $5,000 each in November.
