Update your Apple iPhone, iPad, Mac, iMac or Watch Today for Security

Apple, Inc., disclosed in the last few days that a serious security issue has been identified in the operating systems for its iPhones®, iPads® and other Apple devices, including laptop computers. The vulnerability allows hackers to potentially take full control of the device (and all the information on it), and there is evidence that the security issue is already being actively exploited by hackers. Apple® has recently released operating system updates for its devices to address the problem. The newly released operating system versions are:

  • iPhones – iOS 15.6.1
  • iPads – iPadOS 15.6.1
  • Macs®/iMac®s (running macOS Monterey) – macOS Monterey 12.5.1
  • Macs/iMacs running (macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina) – Safari 12.5.1
  • Apple® Watch Series 3 – watchOS 8.7.1

We strongly encourage anyone owning or using an Apple device to make sure that the operating system software for your device(s) is up to date with the versions listed above as soon as possible. Users of Apple devices can check the version of their operating system by going to Settings/General/Software Update on the device and then activating the control to run the system update if it’s needed. Please also consider turning on Automatic Updates at the same screen to ensure that the software remains up to date.
