The summer season is officially underway, and many of us are looking forward to vacations, swimming pools, boating on the lake or long, lazy road trips. But before you hit the air, road or water, give careful thought to your insurance needs.

Gwinnett county student Delmer Jones, a sophomore at Morehouse College, is the latest winner of a Delta Community scholarship for students attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in Georgia. Delmer is a graduate of Brookwood High School in Snellville.

With more delivery channels than ever, credit unions have to be everything to everyone. “We offer a multitude of channels for all of our members and rarely do we have a member that is exclusive to one delivery method,” said Delta Community CEO Hank Halter.

Organizations that help kids in Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties and the city of Atlanta were the recipients of grants from the Delta Community Philanthropic Fund.

The Delta Community Philanthropic Fund awarded a total of $14,500 to two Fayette County-based organizations that serve young people throughout metro Atlanta last week.

Median loan growth for federally insured credit unions equaled 4.1 percent for the year. What may be surprising, however, is the doubling of that growth locally.  “In metro Atlanta, and certainly in Cobb County, loan growth is bolstered by a healthy economy, declining unemployment and favorable interest rates,” said Bob Walsh, executive VP and chief lending officer of Delta Community Credit Union.
