Fraudulent Email: Technical Error Detected

Delta Community has been made aware of fraudulent phishing email messages being sent to some members of the Credit Union. This email's subject line says, "Account Alert: Technical Error Detected!" and it is being sent from an email address pretending to be associated with Delta Community Credit Union.

Statement on Facebook’s Reported Interest in Data Partnership with Banks

Delta Community is aware of the Wall Street Journal article and other stories about Facebook’s interest in partnering with banks to receive transactional data if the consumer requests and approves the release of such information through an opt-in process. We have not been approached by Facebook and have no plans to participate in the offering they’re still conceptualizing. Also, under our strict privacy policy, the Credit Union would never share information without our members’ direct consent.

Fraudulent Text Messages Claim Server Upgrade and Account Accessed from Unknown Browser

Delta Community has been made aware of two separate fraudulent text message scams (SMSishing scams) being sent to some members under the name of the Credit Union. The messages say either members’ Delta Community “account was accessed from an unknown browser” or Delta Community Credit Union is “undergoing server upgrade” and that the member must click on a malicious phishing link to resolve the problem.

Delta Community Not Associated With Delta Data Breach

The Delta Air Lines data breach recently reported in the news involves a third-party company that provides chat services to Delta Air Lines customers. Delta Community Credit Union is not associated with that company and was not part of the Delta Air Lines data breach. 

Information on Equifax Cybersecurity Incident

On Thursday, September 7, credit-reporting company Equifax announced a cybersecurity incident potentially impacting as many as 143 million people. Delta Community and other Visa® card issuers receive regular updates when Visa is notified that some of their card numbers may have been exposed as merchants are required to disclose this under the Visa network rules. We use these alerts from Visa to monitor the affected cards more closely to help protect these accounts from fraud.
