Reopening Our Canton and Buford Branches

Canton Branch

Our Buford and Canton branches, both located inside Kroger stores, are now open. These locations will accommodate walk-ins from Monday through Friday in addition to scheduled appointments, and will be appointment-only on Saturdays. Appointments may be scheduled using our online calendaring tool. As the safety of our members and employees is our top priority, we have instituted multiple safety measures at these locations, including floor decals to foster social distancing, plexiglass dividers at teller stations, and enhanced cleaning procedures. We thank you for your patience while we worked to safely reopen, and we are happy to welcome members back to these locations!

Because we are unable to adhere to the Center for Disease Control guidelines of maintaining six-feet distance between members, staff and Kroger customers, we will not be reopening our Suwanee Kroger Branch. The closest branch to the Suwanee location is our Duluth Branch, about four miles away, at 1980 Satellite Boulevard, NW, Duluth, GA 30097. We remain committed to Gwinnett County and will continue to evaluate opportunities to expand our footprint there in the future.

We are now accepting nominations, through September 9, for our third quarter HBCU Scholarship. Decatur Branch Celebrates Grand Opening and 10th Anniversary

Decatur Branch Team

Our relocated Decatur Branch recently celebrated its official grand opening, as well as its 10th anniversary. Although a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony was not held for health and safety reasons due to COVID-19, CEO Hank Halter and SVP of Branch Delivery Pam Davis visited the branch to congratulate the employees and celebrate with a team lunch.

“Since the soft open a couple of months ago, employees and members have told us they love this new location,” said Branch Manager Eddie Montgomery. “They’re happy that it is very close to the location of our old branch, but we now have drive-thru service lanes and dedicated parking spots in a covered deck. We’re looking forward to better serving our Decatur members in this beautiful, new space.”

Gainesville Branch Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Gainesville Branch Anniversary

In addition to Decatur, we also recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of our Gainesville Branch. Branch Manager Christy Wagner and Assistant Branch Manager Nancy Williams, who have both been at the Gainesville branch since opening in 2010, were presented with a special plaque to commemorate the occasion.

“I opened the branch as manager, and Nancy began her career here as a teller, before moving into roles as a member service advisor and now assistant manager,” said Christy. “It’s been a tremendous experience getting to know and serve the financial needs of our members who live and work in the Gainesville area over the past decade. We look forward to serving them and our local community for many more years to come!”

Thank you to our members and branch staff who have made Gainesville such a success for the last decade.

  • There Is Such a Thing as an Affordable Vacation: Dealing with a pandemic and the many severe personal and commercial economic problems it has caused means that many of us are not able to even think about a vacation this year, let alone take one. But people are still going on vacations in 2020, and if you're in a position to consider taking time off and going on a trip, then it's well worth giving a thought to how to save money on a vacation.
  • Transitioning to Retirement Now: This year's COVID-19 corodivirus pandemic has disrupted millions of lives as Americans have either lost their jobs permanently or been furloughed with less work and lower wages. This disruption forced former employees to carefully consider their long-term employment options and start making what may be difficult decisions as to how they can move forward with their careers or transition to early retirement.
  • What to Do If Your Personal Email Account is Hacked: It can be enormously harmful if your email is hacked, potentially exposing personal information of many kinds, including sensitive financial, legal, and medical activity. It could also open your personal and business contacts to phishing or other types of online or mobile attacks. Find out how to act quickly to try to regain control of your account.
  • How to Report Stolen Unemployment or Stimulus Payments: Unfortunately, wherever there is money, there are people interested in stealing it, and they may do it as simply as taking your check out of a mailbox or going to the extra effort of stealing your identity and getting access to your financial accounts. If you are missing an unemployment or economic stimulus payment, here’s what you can do to try to recover it.
  • Your Smartphone SIM Card Could Be a Target: Crooks (also known as fraudsters, scammers, and hackers) keep coming up with inventive methods for stealing your personal information—and then your money. And now that we manage many of the activities in our lives on smartphones, including accessing our financial accounts, our mobile phones are increasingly becoming the preferred electronic target for fraudsters who want to harm us.
